Assessing house foundation problems

Settlement (going down of a segment of foundation beneath the actual elevation) or upheaval (rising of slab owing to underneath moisture from plumbing leak or so) is the root cause of house foundation problems.
Assessment of foundation problems is eased out by observing relevant exterior and interior indications. Improper opening and closing of door, fascia trim corners showing gaps, appearance of cracks on wall at doors or windows corner diagonally, significant gaps between pavement and garage doors on either side of door, difficulty in opening and closing the windows, open grade beams showing cracks, and cracking of mortar and bricks are some visual clues to identify exterior foundation problems.
Floors with unequal level, concrete slab bearing huge cracks, kitchen cabinets distanced from ceiling, inability of cabinet doors to keep closed, existent sheetrock renovations showing tears and curls, leakage with cracks in the neighborhood of fireplace are some interior indications of house foundation problems.
