Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems


Exterior insulation and finish system is a thin coating or lightweight cladding on the exterior. It forms an insulating layer on the walls prior to applying the finish coat of painting. It is usually 1/16th of an inch thick and the material is made mostly from Polymer systems. Vapor barriers also help in interior humidification with lesser energy and water. Vapor barriers are usually thin materials made of aluminum foil, polyethylene plastic. Glass fiber batts are inserted in the spaces in between woodwork to prevent leaving any air gaps through moisture can enter the structure. Air leakage around the windows is also avoided by stapling vapor barriers.
